In a game-changing move for University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) Athletics, former professor Jim C. Quick and his wife Sheri have delivered the second-largest unrestricted gift in the program's history.

This substantial donation will provide enduring support for student-athletes, covering essential costs like tuition, tutoring, nutrition, sports equipment, and more. It's a testament to the couple's deep ties to UTA and their passion for elevating Maverick sports.

Inspired by a recent landmark gift from alumnus Mike Baylor, the Quicks decided to amplify their impact. "Sheri and I were inspired by the outstanding gift from alumnus Mike Baylor and wanted to invest in Athletics on a larger scale," Quick shared. He highlighted the recent surge in UTA Athletics fundraising, expressing eagerness to join this upward momentum.

Jim Quick, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel honored with the Legion of Merit, boasts an impressive academic legacy. His accolades include the 2019 John and Judy Goolsby Award from the College of Business, a 2016 Regents' Outstanding Teacher Award, the 2016 Professor of the Year Medallion from Beta Gamma Sigma, and the 2002 Harry and Miriam Levinson Award from the American Psychological Foundation.

UTA Athletics Director Jon Fagg expressed profound gratitude: "We really appreciate the Quicks' phenomenal gift and their continuous support of UTA Athletics." He noted their longstanding dedication, which will help propel the program forward and create lasting benefits for student-athletes.

The Quicks are active philanthropists, belonging to UTA's 1895 Society, the Ashbel Smith Circle, and The University of Texas System's Chancellor's Council Executive Committee, as well as Colgate University's President's Circle. Jim is also involved with the Rotary Club of Arlington, where both are Paul Harris Fellows and members of the Arch Klumph Society.

Deputy Athletic Director for Development Ira Childress called the gift a "gamechanger" for the department. "We couldn't be more excited about this impactful gift from Jim and Sheri," he said. "This will be a gamechanger for our department and our student-athletes. We greatly appreciate their generosity."

As UTA Athletics continues to rise, this donation underscores the power of community investment in shaping brighter futures for young athletes.
